Who I am

Bodman Blades is a sole trader making handmade knives in Melksham, Wiltshire. I'm the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. You can contact me at bodmanblades@gmail.com.

What information I collect

Enquiries: your name, phone number, email address and the details of what you're asking about.
Orders: your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, order details and any engraving wording. Payment details are handled by our payment provider, and I never see or store your full card details.
Website use: basic information such as pages visited and device type, collected through cookies and analytics provided by Squarespace.

How I use it

To reply to your enquiries and discuss custom work.
To take payment, make, engrave and send your order, and handle any returns.
To keep records for tax and accounting.
To improve the website.

I only send marketing emails if you've asked to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time. I never sell your data.

Who I share it with

Only the people needed to complete your order or run the site: Squarespace (website, store and payments), our payment provider, and Royal Mail or other couriers for delivery, including age verification on delivery. These providers have their own privacy policies.

How long I keep it

Enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request. Order records are kept for up to 6 years for tax and legal purposes.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or object to how I use it. Email me and I'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to work properly and to understand how it's used. You can manage cookies through the banner on the site or your browser settings.

Returns

Every knife is handmade and different, so please look closely at the photos and details before you buy.

You can return a knife within 14 days of receiving it, provided it is returned unused and as purchased, in its original packaging.
Because each knife is handmade, you are responsible for the cost of returning it. Please use a tracked and insured service, as you're responsible for the knife until it reaches me.
Please email me before sending anything back so I can give you the return address.
Once I've received and checked the knife, I'll refund the purchase price to your original payment method within 14 days.
Knives that have been used, sharpened, damaged or altered can't be accepted for return.
Custom commissions and knives engraved or personalised for you are made to your specification, so these can't be returned unless faulty.

If your knife arrives damaged or faulty, please email me with photos as soon as possible and I'll put it right. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Age restriction

Knives are sold to over-18s only. Age is verified on delivery, so someone aged 18 or over will need to be present with ID.

Changes to this policy

I may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
